John Nicholas Vega

We stumbled into what we believe to be county corruption and incompetence regarding the placement of two foster children in our care. At that time we had two pairs of foster siblings in two different courtrooms, so we asked a key individual in each courtroom for a list of attorney referrals. John Veg...a was the only attorney on both lists. We felt good about Mr. Vega from the initial consultation. Mr. Vega gave us a very realistic idea of what to expect, and we knew from the beginning it would be an uphill battle. We had NO idea how brutal the county would become after we questioned their plan for the children in our care. The county began a reputational destruction campaign against us. When we would go to court hearings, the county worker, county counsel, and counsel for the bio-mom would say terrible things about us, and the judge would rebuke us in the courtroom based on those false allegations. Mr. Vega provided calmness, stability and strength in the middle of a pretty heated battle with the county. His knowledge of the law and processes exceeded those of anyone else in the courtroom, and he regularly had to correct what was being demanded by others in the courtroom. The county was coming imminently three different times to remove the children from our home, but each time Mr. Vega used his vast knowledge of the law to stop the county’s impending actions. Mr. Vega protected the precious children in our care from becoming victims of what we believe to be a scam on the system and the county taxpayers, and he also protected our reputation before the court. Mr. Vega and his staff continually filed the many important and necessary documents with the court, and we were always well prepared when walking into the courtroom. We are now nearing the end of the adoption process for the children in our care, and we cannot thank enough Mr. Vega and his wonderful staff for all they did to bring us to this point! I hired Mr. Vega and the amount of unprofessionalism and overage charges have been a constant issue. He never contacts me after court cases to explain what the outcome was and when I have communication through email, I end up being charged a thousand dollars for a few emails. He doesnt take the time ...to actually help the case but rather show up and act as if he had planned some sort of dialogue. His office is crummy and there's no going around it. I had to chase the assistant to get information. If you want a lawyer with open communication and effective procedures, this guy isnt it. If you ever do speak to him outside of the court room, be expected to be over charged for every word. I have wasted so much money without any sort of progress. I wanted to fire him as a lawyer but it took two months for the assistant to even tell me I cannot and they need to file paperwork to do so. This office is a joke.

At each hearing (and there were many), Mr. Vega sat with us and quietly explained what was happening (because it wasn't always obvious). He was reassuring but not placating. He made sure we had the facts and helped us to understand the nuances of decisions. Whenever there were opportunities to participate in court hearings, Mr. Vega was confident, respectful, and thorough. He also took a very positive approach to the case, even in the darkest hours. He never disparaged other parties but rather took a calm, logical, and respectful approach to all aspects of the case. This helped us stay focused on what was important rather than what was dramatic or emotional. Mr. Vega always returned our calls (if he wasn't able to take them when in office) and Mirella, a wonderful calming presence herself, made sure he always got our messages. Both of them responded to emails timely, even when our emails were very, very long and full of questions. I honestly don't know how we would've gotten through the case without either Mr. Vega or Mirella. We are eternally grateful. Because of their hard work and dedication, we have an incredible family. I can't recommend them enough!
