Straightforward, honest, helpful

I highly recommend William Cheney from the Law Offices of Earl Carter and Associates in Victorville, California. Back in September 2014, I found out that my uncle, who I hadn't spoken with for 2 or 3 years, had about 3 hours left to live. I had a 2 hour drive ahead of me. Apple maps was still som...ewhat new and its information was still not always 100% correct. Apple maps led me to Barstow Community Hospital; the old one. I parked there, confused about why this small hospital had an empty parking lot. Walking around the building, looking for an entrance, I noticed the big hospital across the street, up at the top of an incline, and across a parking lot. I walked over there and spent my time with my uncle and those who came to see him. I was too late to see him conscious. I stayed a little while longer with my aunt (who I also hadn't spoken to due to being unable to pay her back a loan) and my uncle's friends. I left the hospital around midnight with a dead phone and no gas(hence why I didn't drive around the corner to get into the parking lot for the new hospital.) When I was walking along the side of the old hospital, I was arrested by some security guards. The cops came and didn't bother to check my story and took me to jail. Someone vandalized and burglarized that old hospital and I got blamed for it. So I had to go to court for a year and a half trying to prove my innocence in a felony vandalism case. All of the people who originally had said they would give a statement to say that I wasn't at the place that got vandalized never responded to the private investigators' calls. Other than those statements, I had no proof on my side. And circumstantial evidence (a pocketful of nitrile gloves used for my automotive repair jobs, like the ones you find in hospitals and an empty box for those gloves in the vacant hospital plus a Van's size 10 shoe print) could place me inside the vandalized building and I didn't feel confident in my ability to stand trial and leave my fate up to a bunch of strangers( a.k.a. a jury). So the attorney that I had retained, Mr. William Cheney, was really great advising me through the case that took over a year and really helped me to feel less nervous and more informed of what my situation was and how things could go. He was able to get the District Attorney to agree to great terms. It was a misdemeanor with only a low court fee of $270 and restitution to the vandalized building's owner(s) as well as work release. I had thought the work release/electronic monitoring could be transferred to Orange County by the Rehabilitation Center that I would be reporting to. Turns out I was wrong. I had to go back to court to modify my probation and ran into Mr. Cheney while there. The case was over and he had no obligation to help me further. He happened to be in the same department at the same time as me and stuck around for a few minutes in case he felt it necessary to say anything to the judge to help me out. That judge was unable to modify my probation so I had come back the following week to see a judge who could. Mr. Cheney said he would try to be there and he was. He even talked to the D.A. for me and stood with me when the judge called me up and spoke on my behalf. He got the D.A. to send someone over really quick and got my work release converted to community service so that I could serve out my time in Orange County. All in all, although Mr. Cheney didn't see me through to what I had hoped for, he got me off on great terms that I can deal with as a person who didn't commit the crime I was charged with. He was very helpful and very straightforward with me about my case and my chances going to trial. He is very pleasant to deal with and very knowledgeable of the law. Beatriz Moreno and Ryan Ward were pleasurable to speak to as well. I am very happy to have worked with William Cheney and glad that I chose Earl Carter and Associates in Victorville to represent me.

Best lawyer I've ever met

My son needed an attorney for a felony and misdemeanor charge. I chose Earl Carter & Associates and was assigned to Mr. William Cheney. Mr. Cheney took the time to listen to our side of the story rather than the embellished police report. All this was done even before we hired him. Mr. Cheney spent ...time with my son at the courthouse discussing all possible outcomes, he was stern and gave him worst case and best case scenarios. He then discussed alternatives with the district attorney and they came to a mutual agreement. He worked very hard, was always straightforward and honest. I would recommend him in a heartbeat and would also recommend the staff that works with him.

Highly Recommended!!!!!!

I hired Mr Cheney for a elderly abused case in March 2014 for my wife. I wish for the best and was expecting the worst. I feared for my wife to go to prison and her have a felony on her record. Mr Cheney and his team did all the possible to get all the evidence to prove she was innocent on all charge...s. Thanks to Mr. Cheney and his team the D.A. dropped the charges. Thank You!!!
