I was reported to the medical board following a credentialing process based on the advice of an investigator to the medical staff office secretarial staff. There was no specific issue identified. I then underwent an open ended fishing expedition which included my 20 year old well documented subst...ance abuse history which had previously been treated and monitored. I never knew what I was accused of. I was never provided a due process procedure. I don't think you need to be an attorney to see that this is absurd. Attorney Zeigen was hired because he stated he knew how the board worked and had been a previous medical board prosecutor. After a year of ongoing bills and no new information, my attorney took it upon himself to erroneously identify an issue, then submit a guilty plea and requested a reprimand stating it would not hurt my career and this way "everybody wins". I complained. In the wording of the reprimand he then again made decisions without communication which had to be changed. He told the medical board I was "difficult to deal with" as an explanation for requested change. He told me a hearing would cost me my life savings and I would not win. When confronted he then stated he developed stress and atrial fibrillation and had not gotten paid and terminated services which resulted in the medical board reneging the agreement. I was told Renee Threadgill, the medical board enforcement officer, "had a crush on him". He stated he "needed to consider that he would have future interactions with the board" . Needless to say, this is not the level of professionalism that one expects. There was a lack of zeal, knowledge base, familiarity with credentialing process or ability to confront his former employers. In my opinion you need someone with the mindset of a defense attorney who believes in you. I made a tragic mistake hiring this individual. If you are a physician run for your life. Good luck.
