Quality, experienced representation

In my case, I tried to settle on my own. Opposing counsel was very aggressive and pushed me to a point where I had to hire someone. I am so thankful for James Scott and his office for guiding me through this difficult process. Mr. Scott educated me, protected me, and fought for me. I highly recomm...end a consultation with Mr. Scott before you hire anyone else. I sleep very well at night knowing that opposing counsel bit off more than he could chew.

Divorce Representation

Ask anyone who has had to endure divorce - it is hard. No question. I sought a divorce attorney that I felt would represent my best interests in a professional and thorough manner and interviewed Jim Scott and Scott Matteson. From the start, I felt they were extremely well qualified. Throughout m...y case, we worked together as a collaborative team to reach the best outcome. The entire staff of Scott and Matteson Family Law was excellent and responsive. They have earned my great respect and strongest endorsement.

Great Service

They represented me on a case and I was very pleased with their services and happy with the outcome. The office staff are courteous and professional, and always returned phone calls promptly. Mr. Scott knows his stuff and was able to explain things to me in layman's terms. I would not hesitate to us...e them again or to recommend them to family or friends.

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Jim Scott and I represented a major league baseball player in a trial brought by a woman who refused to sign a prenuptial agreement, and then when the baseball player refused to get married, she sued him for $10,000,000. There are few family lawyers who can try a case in civil court too, but Jim Scott is one of them. He's a great lawyer and I endorse him without reservation."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
