About Rachel
Biography
With a history of excellence in cases involving complicated custody and parenting time issues, Rachel R. James has represented clients in almost every area of family law, including custody, paternity, spousal support, property division, post-decree modification, orders of protection, prenuptial agreements, and family law appeals. She has also represented clients in the areas of third-party custody involving grandparent rights and in loco parentis matters. Although her practice is primarily in family court, Ms. James has successfully represented clients in juvenile and probate matters, including guardianships, conservatorships and dependency actions.
Admitted to practice law in Arizona, California, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, Ms. James was an active member of the Maricopa County Bar Association, serving on the Board of Directors for both the Young Lawyers Division and the Family Law Section until she moved to San Diego in April of 2011. Ms. James was also named the Young Lawyers Division Member of the Year for 2010. Ms. James is now a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the Lawyers Club of San Diego.
Ms. James received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Iowa and her Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California.
