Marilyn Perrin

I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.  After completing my undergraduate studies with a B.A. in English, I worked in marketing and management for CBS Television Network, The Walt Disney Company, and the NFL.  I obtained my Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in 1994, where I received a Dean’s Scholarship.  At Pepperdine, I was Note and Comment editor of the Law Review, and was a published writer.  I also served as a teaching assistant in legal research and writing courses.  The law school honored me with the Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in criminal law.  

During law school, I clerked for State Farm Insurance Company and, upon graduation, joined State Farm’s corporate counsel, where I practiced for 12 years.  At State Farm, I obtained a diploma from the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.  I offered legal opinions and guidance to State Farm corporate personnel on contracts, coverage issues, and special handling of unique cases, conservatorships and restitution hearings.  I developed and presented seminars for clients and the company on such topics as “The Life of a Case from Filing Through Trial” and “Understanding Court Costs.” In 2006, my husband and I  moved from Los Angeles to San Diego, and I joined Winet Patrick Gayer Creighton & Hanes in 2008.  I specialize in insurance defense, coverage, and appellate work. 

I have served as a Judge Pro Tem for the Los Angeles Superior Court and as a settlement referee for the North Central District’s CRASH settlement conference program.  I am admitted to practice in all State courts and the Central District of the United States District Court.  I am an active member of the State Bar of California and the San Diego County Bar Association.
