Attorney Jennifer S. Knight received her bachelor's degree with the highest honors from California State University, San Marcos. Jennifer went on to law school at Santa Clara University School of Law, where she received a Cali Award in mediation and a Public Interest and Social Justice Certificate with an emphasis in criminal justice. Upon passing the bar, Jennifer was offered a position as a Deputy Public Defender in Fresno County. During her time at the Public Defender's office, she handled a caseload of over 200 active cases and appeared in court almost daily.
Jennifer later accepted an associate attorney position at the law firm McCormick Kabot Jenner & Lew which specializes in municipal law and civil litigation. As an associate attorney, she provided a broad spectrum of legal counsel to private clients and public agencies (such as cities, public utility districts, and the Tulare County Housing Authority). She served as Deputy City Attorney for the cities of Porterville, Tulare, Exeter, and Lindsay and attended City Council and Municipal board meetings. Jennifer participated heavily in all aspects of litigation, performed unlawful detainer trials, negotiated and prepared contracts and settlements, advised clients on labor and employment issues, prosecuted criminal Municipal Code violations, and more. A couple years later, Jennifer moved back to her home town and accepted an in-house position as Deputy City Attorney for the City of National City where she continued to expand her practice areas.
