Marymichelle Lotano

My interest in being a Special Education Law Attorney and serving children with disabilities is long standing. I have an undergraduate degree from Springfield College in Rehabilitation Services and a law degree from Albany Law School. My education and experience in the area of special needs and law allows me to bring a unique perspective and knowledge to my advocacy. I am able to offer valuable and practical solutions to the challenges children face as they navigate their social, emotional, and educational day. ​ It wasn't until I experienced the special education law system as a parent that I realized how intellectually and emotionally overwhelming the journey can be. Through my own experience I have learned that there are three key elements in preparing to advocate for a child; 1) Be Prepared 2) Start Cooperatively and 3) Act Assertively. I prepare by having a solid knowledge of your child's educational, social , and emotional strengths and weaknesses. I approach the school environment with an attitude of cooperation and a goal of success. And I act assertively to gain the services that will enhance your child's education to allow for optimal educational and social achievement.
