Laura Elizabeth Del Castillo

Laura joined Green Wise Legal in late 2018 as a legal consultant and became a full-time Associate Attorney in January 2019. She brought with her a background in environmental and land use law with a focus on CEQA, a law that is ubiquitous in the cannabis industry.

Prior to joining Green Wise, Laura worked for both non-profit and private firms focused on state, federal, and international environmental issues, local land use and zoning, and administrative law, all of which are important components to cannabis permitting and compliance. Her work required an ability to navigate complex regulatory schemes and maintain relationships with state and local agencies and government officials, which lends itself perfectly to advocating on behalf of Green Wise’s clients.

In 2016, Laura and her partner embarked on a two-year travel adventure through 14 countries on four continents. Upon her return to the U.S., she served as legal counsel to her previous law firm until making her way to cannabis law.

Laura received her J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law, where she was the recipient of two scholarships and a graduate of the Honors Lawyering Program. She also served as Managing Editor of the Environmental Law Journal and Chair of the GGU Student Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, among other student group affiliations. She has published several law review articles and is a member of the California NORML Legal Committee and the National Lawyers Guild SF Bay Area Chapter. Laura lives and works in the Bay Area.
