I had an issue with an apartment I rented last fall. The apartment did not disclose that they had asbestos until a month after we moved in with a note on our door. I brought it up to their attention and all they can say that I've signed the addendum. I was infuriated because I have respiratory health... issues and that my immune system is weak. They still brushed it off after I told them at the ACM (asbestos) was disturbed. I moved out right away and they threaten me and told me that I had to pay in full or they will take me to collections. They were even charging me 3 times the rent which is ridiculous, the maximize the my deposit and allocated it to all unnecessary charges. (Mind you I was only there for 32 days). I was all freaked out and I did know what to do or even if this is worth a case. I found Attorney Bui here at Avvo and he personally contacted me regarding this issue and gave me the guidance I need. As of right now I think the apartment was just doing a scare tactic but if it gets out of hand I'm sure to give Attorney Bui a call. Very forward and honest, he does not BS.
