After a complaint of habitability, a landlord cannot change or terminate a lease for 180 days. Consult a tenant lawyer just in case.

If a place is uninhabitable, you can break your lease. Consult an attorney before doing so, it's not as simple as it sounds.

He may be right. If you break your lease and the landlord expends costs to replace you, you are responsible for those costs.
