Absolutely. If you can settle the case without the necessity of going to court, that is cheaper for everyone.

I concur with my colleagues. Need more facts to answer this one. Is the father known? If so, does he desire relationship with child?

You could enter into a stipulated agreement and not file a response. However, if no agreement, you must file a response.
