Michael Scott Edmiston

Michael S. Edmiston is an attorney with Jonathan W. Evans & Associates in Studio City, California. Since 2006, his practice focuses on representing investors before FINRA, private commercial arbitration forums, and in state and federal court. His work continues to result in successful recoveries for clients by way direct negotiation, mediation, and contested arbitrations.

Michael served on FINRA’S National Arbitration and Mediation Committee (NAMC) from June 2018 to June 2021, including Expungement and Mediation subcommittees.

Michael is a Past-President of PIABA (Public Investor Advocate Bar Association) (2021-22), and previously served at its Executive Vice-President/President-Select, Treasurer, and Secretary in addition to chairing and co-chairing various committees. He also is an Editor of the PIABA Bar Journal.

He is published in the PIABA Bar Journal, Los Angeles Lawyer, San Fernando Valley Bar Association and the New York City Bar on issues related to securities arbitration. Michael is a frequent speaker on FINRA arbitration and mediation issues for PIABA and other bar associations.

Michael volunteers his time on an ad hoc basis to Community Legal Aid SoCal working with senior citizens.

Prior to entering private practice, Michael served as a Senior Staff Attorney with NASD Dispute Resolution (now FINRA) from 1997-2001, and as a Business Manager with JAMS from 2001-2005.

Michael is a 1994 graduate of Whittier College, with degrees in Business Administration and Economics. In 1997, he obtained his J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law. He received his Master’s Degree in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine in 2001.
