Cesar Rueda

Cesar Rueda has been a lifelong housing advocate, presently focusing on defending tenants being unlawfully evicted. He received his Juris Doctor from Southwestern Law School where he received the distinction of Junior Advocate of the Year in the Trial Advocacy Honors Program, 2020 - 2021. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of California at Berkeley and a Certificate in Negotiations from the Harvard Business School.
After working as a real estate and mortgage broker for several years, he decided to change careers to help address the growing housing crisis in Los Angeles. “I believe the battle lines have been redrawn. While working as a realtor, my goal was once to help immigrant and first-time buyers acquire their homes. I feel I’m now needed to help tenants keep their rent-controlled apartments.”
Before founding Housing Justice Now, Cesar worked as a law clerk for the Eviction Defense Network, BASTA Universal and as an attorney for the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles. By utilizing the best practices from his prior work experience, he seeks to provide exceptional legal services to every tenant he represents.
