Susan Joan Cooley

Practice areas: litigation in probate, conservatorship, guardian and trust cases. Ms. Cooley received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA and her Juris Doctor from Southwestern University School of Law. Ms. Cooley is admitted to practice in California and in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She is a member of the Probate Sections of Los Angeles County, Beverly Hills and San Fernando Bar Associations and served as a delegate to the California State Bar Convention. She served on the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Estates and Trusts Section and was the Chair of that Section from 2000 through 2003. Ms. Cooley has authored multiple articles for the Los Angeles Daily Journal on probate-related topics and has been a speaker and consultant to radio and television stations concerning the guardianship of O. J. Simpson’s children. She also has been a consultant to the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB) on guardianship and conservatorship practice. She has received the following awards and honors: selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, Top Lawyers in Southern California and Super Lawyers, and has been awarded as the Boss of the Year by the San Fernando Valley Legal Secretaries in 1992. She has an AV in Martindale-Hubbell’s peer reviewing. Ms. Cooley has handled and is recognized for her skill in the most complex probate-related litigation. Currently one of her cases, Estate of Duke (2011) 201 Cal. 559, is under review by the California Supreme Court. Ms. Cooley participates in equestrian polo, is a published photographer of astrophotography and enjoys classical music (and was the assistant to the orchestra manager for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra from 1975 through 1979).
