The jail time for this misdemeanor- if they even file it is 0-180 days.
This matter will probably be resolved without jail time. Get an attorney

Call your public defender. Get an extension so you can complete community service. You will not go to jail- BUT take care of this now!

Who are you going to sue? The UCSD police did there job- the tow yard was entitled to sell your vehicle.

The amount of time you will do in county jail will be dependant on what type of crime he was sentenced for.
