Anthony Wen Lai

I am Senior Counsel at The Zhou Law Group, APC and a Certified Family Law Specialist certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. I represent clients in complex and high-conflict matters involving divorce, child custody and visitation, property division, spousal and child support, domestic violence restraining orders, and premarital and postmarital agreements. I regularly serve as lead counsel in contested hearings and trials involving domestic violence, move-away requests, fiduciary-duty claims, and complex financial disputes.

Before devoting my practice to family law, I handled civil litigation involving catastrophic personal injury, employment discrimination, and medical malpractice. I also served in the chambers of the Honorable Stephen G. Larson (Ret.), then a United States District Judge for the Central District of California. These experiences shaped the way I approach difficult cases: with disciplined preparation, strategic thinking, and a focus on presenting complex facts clearly and persuasively.

I chose to practice family law because few areas of law affect people as personally or profoundly. My clients often come to me during some of the most difficult and uncertain periods of their lives, when the decisions they make may shape their families, finances, and relationships with their children for years to come. I consider it a privilege to guide them through those moments, restore a sense of direction, and help them move toward the next chapter of their lives with confidence.

Difficult problems require creative solutions. I draw upon more than a decade of litigation experience to identify practical paths forward, develop strategies tailored to each family’s circumstances, and advocate with conviction when courtroom intervention is necessary. I believe effective family law representation requires more than knowledge of the law. It requires sound judgment, careful listening, empathy, preparation, and the ability to remain steady when a client’s life feels anything but steady.
