As an Asian women , filing a divorce law suit is the last thing I want to do . When I found there is no return on our relationship , divorce is the only option I can have , so I asked my friend to help me find a lawyer. I had a horrible experience at this law office and I highly regretted having hired this law office for my divorce case. There are only two attorneys at this office: Ms. Jessie Shaw and Mr. Almas, both of them were very unprofessional in handling my case. Here is what happened: 1) Lying about having p...aralegal and using attorney Almas to do paralegal forms and charging me with full attorney rate just unbelievably dishonest and unprofessional! On the retainer contract, they listed the fees for legal services by paralegal, but in reality, this office didn't have any paralegals, Mr. Almas acted like Ms. Jessie Shaw's secret paralegal, filling all basic forms that in other law offices handled by paralegal then charged me a full attorney rate for those paralegal works. It's reasonable to assume the clients of the Law Offices of Y. Jessie Shaw are being billed in similar manner and without prior notification. 2) Ms. Jessie Shaw was really rude and very unprofessional; my first meeting with her was already a red flag: she was sleeping when I walked in her office for my appointment; asked me to find her secretary as I were her employee; promised me to review my case and handle with urgency but turned around dumped my case to her associated attorney who I have never met; over promised on document delivery time and forced me to pay two Motions filed by the opposing attorney due to her office's mishandling my case. When I called the office to question her on the mistakes her office made, instead of listening to my feedback and giving me reasonable explanations, Ms. Jessie Shaw was calling me names and yelling at me. Her rudeness and unprofessional behavior were shocking to me. 3) This law office has billed me for drafting settlement that has never been delivered to me. Moreover, this office billed me for many other services without my consent. In the end, I had to fire the Law Offices of Y. Jessie Shaw and I was forced to represent myself at the court and reached a final settlement. Last but not the least, Jessie Shaw told me to my face that divorce is miserable only for those who are going through it; to her and her associate attorney Mr. Almas, all divorce is entertainment and the longer they drag the divorce war, the more money they make as attorneys! So, if you are Asian and you think Jessie Shaw looks like Asian therefore she will share your feelings and fight for your minority rights, YOU ARE WRONG!
