Erick Victor Munoz

Erick is a Los Angeles-based criminal defense attorney and trial lawyer with extensive experience handling serious felony cases, jury trials, post-conviction litigation, and complex criminal matters throughout Southern California. As a Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates, Erick represents clients facing a wide range of criminal charges, including homicide, violent crimes, assault offenses, weapons charges, domestic violence allegations, and other high-stakes felony and misdemeanor cases.

Born in Ecuador and raised in Miami after immigrating to the United States at age 8, Erick reflects the diverse communities he serves throughout Los Angeles County. He attended Emory University before moving to California to attend the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where he graduated as class president.

Erick began his legal career with the Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office, where he gained courtroom experience and conducted his first jury trials. He later joined a large civil litigation firm representing labor organizations and law enforcement personnel, including officers involved in critical incidents and use-of-force investigations. That experience gave him a unique understanding of how law enforcement agencies conduct investigations and build cases.

After returning to criminal defense, Erick founded his own practice and represented clients in courts throughout Los Angeles County. Over the course of his career, he has tried more than 60 cases to verdict, including multiple homicide cases, and has secured acquittals on charges ranging from murder to criminal threats. His extensive trial experience allows him to evaluate cases from a jury's perspective and build defense strategies designed for the courtroom from the very beginning.

In addition to his trial work, Erick has successfully represented clients in post-conviction proceedings, helping secure relief for individuals serving lengthy prison sentences. He has litigated complex motions to vacate convictions, obtained resentencing relief under changing California laws, and helped secure the release of clients convicted of serious offenses, including homicide cases and individuals sentenced as juveniles.

Erick remains committed to serving his community through pro bono work, including educational outreach for students interested in the legal profession and advocacy for fraud victims seeking financial recovery.
