Schedule an InfoPass with the USCIS. Perhaps you can get the N-400 back on track. Otherwise, hire an attorney to do this for you.

The problem is that you are an intending immigrant, so the Consul is unlikely to issue you a tourist visa.

You can only file the I-485 if a visa is available at the time of filing.

If you fail to main status you may have an issue obtaining a visa in the future. B-2 status can be refused on a purely discretionary basis.

You need your employer to file your I-140.
