Yes, it is possible to change to F-1 and back to H-4, although it may not be necessary.

If they were disclosed and not a problem in applying for the green card, they should not be a problem now for citizenship.

Whether you hire an attorney or not, you should consult with one regarding these questions. Asylum is a very complicated process.

You may still proceed under the F-2B category, however, this does not seem to advantage you.
