You may be petitioned for a green card under EB-2 irrespective of whether you have ever been in the US or obtained a visa.

Ther usually is some kind of an immigrant visa petition filed in support of an I-485. Perhaps it was on your spouse's behalf?

The EAD does not extend your nonimmigrant status for purposes of H-1B change of status. Consult with an attorney.

U Visas are generally for victims of certain crimes, who provide information or other assistance to law enforcement in pursuit of the perpetrators.

You should have applied for an EAD concurrent with your I-485 filing. Also, extending your L-1A status is not a bad idea, to keep you in valid...
