Biography

Charles D. Naylor has been a personal injury trial lawyer in the State and federal courts of Southern California for more than 30 years. During his career, Mr. Naylor has successfully settled or tried hundreds of cases arising from injuries occurring in the ports of Los Angeles, Long Beach and around the world.

Mr. Naylor enjoys a national reputation among his peers for his strict adherence to the highest standards of ethics, quality of work, and successful prosecution of injury cases. In 2007 he was a finalist for the Consumer Attorney of the Year Award presented by the Consumer Attorneys of California and in 2008 was a recipient of California Lawyer Magazine's prestigious CLAY Award. Mr. Naylor has an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating possible from the most respected national legal rating service, and has been recognized by Southern California Super Lawyers as one of the "top attorneys in southern California" for 2007-2011.

Among his recent jury trial verdicts, in a 2007 wrongful death case Mr. Naylor obtained a verdict of more than $55 million for the family of a deceased longshoreman and a settlement agreement of $3.2 million for an injured longshore woman.

Mr. Naylor has been a lecturer for the State of California, Continuing Education of the Bar program and serves as a Neutral Evaluator for the Los Angeles County Superior Courts for maritime injury cases. He is a commissioner of the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization Admiralty & Maritime Consulting Group, where he has played a vital role in the development of criteria for certification in California as a specialist in Admiralty and Maritime Law.

Mr. Naylor is also an adjunct Professor of Law, teaching Admiralty and Maritime Law at Chapman University School of Law. He is a member and Past-President of the Maritime Section of the Long Beach Bar Association, the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the American Association For Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association) Admiralty section, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, WILG and is a "Bencher" member of the Joseph A. Ball/Clarence S. Hunt Inn of Court.

A Rarety, Honest and Reliable

I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Naylor for the past 13 years on different cases. I first contacted Mr. Naylor shortly after my husband suffered a work related injury while working as a formen on the waterfront. Sadly our case escalated from a work comp. injury to a wrongful death case ...within days and needless to say, reaching a settlemet not just with the employer but with one of the big three auto manufacturers took time. He was prompt to inform me of our rights under work comp. laws and made sure our benefits where in good standing at all time. He was engaged and sought assitance from other coucil when needed and remained the liaison when ever needed between, the employer, benefits office and any other council involved. In all my years of working with attorneys, both work related and on a personal level, he is one of the most reliable and honest attorneys I've had the pleasure of working with. His staff is polite and very efficient and always willing to help when Mr. Naylor is not available. I have refered multiple friends and previous buisness contacts to him throughout the years and would not hesitate to call on him again, should I find my self in need of someone with his expertise.

Charles Naylor and staff are quick, brilliant and quite persuasive

Charles Naylor and his staff are quick, brilliant and very persuasive no matter your side. He also has the unusual ability to keep you calm in all circumstances - which is very important. In the end he delivers - and more than you might expect. The best in maritime law that I've heard of and used!... I owe him a thank you every month!
