An attorney in private practice for more than a decade, my focus is on developing creative legal solutions that provide the best possible outcomes for my clients. It has been said that justice is blind, but I find that is not always the case. I prefer that justice be fair, and I am tireless in my pursuit of equitable and dignified treatment for my clients.
Immediately after high school, I began my career in the US Navy, seeking financial assistance for my education, the opportunity to see the world, and a desire for adventure. Starting as an Engineman, I worked on diesel engines, air conditioning systems, and hydraulic systems. Later, I moved up to maintaining gas turbine engines and their electronic systems, eventually teaching at the Gas Turbine Technician A-school at Naval Station Great Lakes outside Chicago.
After 10 years with the Navy and collecting a B.S. in electronics management from Southern Illinois University, I received a scholarship to attend Syracuse University’s College of Law, graduating magna cum laude in 2003 with a Juris Doctor degree, and academic distinctions including dean’s list and membership in the Justinian Honor Society.
Although I’ve found success as an attorney-at-law, I’ve never forgotten my roots; growing up in humble surroundings, working as a mechanic and technician for a decade in the Navy, and becoming the first and only member of my immediate family to graduate from college. I like to think that my background equips me with empathy for the challenges my clients often face, and at the same time, the toughness, determination, and legal knowledge necessary to provide them with effective representation.
My areas of practice are estate planning, probate law, and bankruptcy.
In my spare time, I am an avid scuba diver, world traveler, and voracious reader. I am married to my best friend and currently reside within walking distance of the beach here in San Pedro where he proposed to me.

Professional and Prompt
Barbara J. Craig has assisted several business colleagues. Barbara is very confidential, prompt and quite professional. One quality Barbara excels at is making her clients feel comfortable. The referrals I have forwarded to Barbara have all had a positive outcome - whether court time was involved, es...
"I endorse this lawyer. I have referred several clients to Barbara, and she has always taken great care of them. I'm careful about who I refer to clients to, because my reputation is on the line, as well. Barbara is great!"
"I have worked with Barbara on real estate and eviction matters and found her to be an outstanding attorney in those areas. In fact, under her guidance I expanded my practice to focus more on real estate and she referred me to a whole host of others (brokers, title companies, surveyors, etc.) who could assist me in my practice. While Illinois has lost a great attorney, California has gained one."
"Barbara has earned my respect as a street smart advocate for her clients. We have worked together on cases, and I have referred her clients of mine. She has great rapport with clients and cares about their needs. She has an extraordinary grasp of detail and is very accessible and personable. I highly recommend Barbara."
