Alexandra Markus is an accomplished criminal defense attorney. A former Public Defender at the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office, Ms. Markus is skilled in criminal law from serious and violent felonies to DUI matters and is talented in negotiation and obtaining mental health, military and judicial diversion.
Ms. Markus has successfully litigated twelve misdemeanor criminal jury trials to verdict, resulting in five straight not-guilty verdicts, two hung jury verdicts, and multiple count dismissals. She has zealously litigated felony criminal jury trials with violent strikes alleged to verdict, with jury findings of notguilty on two strikes counts.
Adept at resolving and negotiating, Ms. Markus has argued and won various suppression motions and motions pursuant to Serna, Penal Code § 1385, and Penal Code § 1382, resulting in over 200 dismissals between 2019 and 2022.
Ms. Markus was admitted to the State Bar in December of 2015 and is an alumna of University of California, Santa Barbara and Southwestern Law School.
