I am a former DEPUTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY/PROSECUTOR with over 15 years experience in the field of Criminal Law. As a Southern California native, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors--awarded to the top 1% of the graduating class. I earned my Juris Doctor (law degree) from Southwestern University School of Law in 2004, and passed the California Bar Exam the same year.
I am currently a Managing Partner of Roxas Law, APC in Torrance, California. Our practice includes all aspects of Criminal Law (including defense and victims' rights) and Family Law. Collectively, the Attorneys at Roxas Law have over 30+ years of experience in these fields. We are a family-run firm. Because of this, we treat our clients as we would treat our own family.
For over 13 years (from 2007-2020), I was a Deputy District Attorney/Prosecutor for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office. Early on in my career as a Deputy District Attorney, I was assigned to the Bellflower Area Courthouse, the Los Angeles Airport Branch Courthouse, the Compton Branch Courthouse, and most recently, I was a Deputy District Attorney/Prosecutor assigned to the Sex Crimes Division--one of the most prestigious specialized units in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
As a Deputy District Attorney/Prosecutor, I have investigated, filed, and conducted jury trials for every type of criminal matter, from misdemeanor to felonies. My trial experience includes misdemeanors (ranging from from driving under the influence of narcotics/alcohol, domestic violence, resisting arrest, narcotics-related offenses, battery and assault). Most importantly, I have prosecuted and conducted jury trials involving FELONIES, such as child abuse, spousal abuse/domestic violence, elder abuse, child sexual assault/child molestation, gang-related sexual assault cases, rapes, child murderers, fetal murder, and murders, including special circumstance murder. Several of my cases have received international and national media attention. In addition, as a Deputy District Attorney/Prosecutor, I was responsible for training and educating law enforcement/police with the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Sheriff's Department training academies. I also trained and educated medical professionals, such as doctors and nurses, in the field of forensic and medical evidence.
Prior to being a Deputy District Attorney/Prosecutor for almost 14 years, I worked at Global Law Group (formerly the Law Offices of Linda W. Lau) where I specialized in business immigration. I joined Roxas Law, APC as a Managing Partner in 2020 and have expanded the Firm's experience to include all aspects of Criminal Law.
I remain committed to my community in several ways. I have been a mentor to graduates of Carson High School, and have awarded financial scholarships to graduating seniors from Carson High School since 2009. I have educated local 5th graders at a Torrance elementary school about the importance of the legal system, and have spoken at numerous Career Nights- at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. I currently sit on the Executive Board of the Philippine American Bar Association (PABA), and I am currently the President of PABA's non-profit/community outreach arm, The PABA Foundation. I am also a Mock Trial coach at one of the schools in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.
I look forward to working with you. Please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or (310) 294-9478.
