Donald Alan Garrard

I am a trial lawyer and have tried hundreds of cases over the last 44 years of practicing law. I prosecute and defend cases involving medical malpractice, sexually transmitted disease, constitutional rights, personal injury, and insurance issues. 

I obtained my initial trial experience as a Deputy District Attorney for Los Angeles County, then spent seven years learning civil personal injury defense, including medical malpractice defense, and insurance coverage litigtion. I co-founded  Fonda & Garrard in 1979  as an insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation firm which morphed, in 1984,  to Fonda, Garrard, Hilberman & Davis, a larger insurance defense and medical malpractice firm. In 1997, I co-founded Garrard & Davis which successfully specialized in medical malpractice and serious personal injury cases on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants.  Since 2003, I have become personally involved in several precedent setting cases involving sexually transmitted disease, the constitutional right of privacy, defense of cases asserting civil liability for failing to prevent criminal assault, and the constitutional rights of parents suspected of child abuse. In 2014, my partner and I split our respective practices to facilitate our individual selection of cases of interest while remaing close friends,and colleagues on a number of cases of mutual interest, and sharing an exceptionally talented support staff.
