Amanda Rose Canning

Amanda has a track-record of working with principles, early and mid-stage companies, socially conscious businesses and nonprofits and supporting them through the host of legal complexities that arise in the course of running a company, from risk management, to contract negotiations, to labor and employment issues.    

Prior to founding Ethica Legal Counsel, Amanda was a civil litigator, primarily in the areas of labor and employment law, complex litigation and wage and hour compliance.  With a wealth of knowledge earned as a litigator, she is well-versed in the implications of unnecessary court battles and well-equipped to negotiate and resolve conflicts before they result in litigation.

She also carries a rich background in state, national and international public policy, politics, and human rights.  Prior to beginning her legal career, Amanda was a human rights advocate in Mexico and Costa Rica and a Jesse Unruh Fellow and Legislative Aide to the Speaker pro Tem of the California State Assembly.  

Amanda received her J.D. from the UCLA, with a certificate in Public Interest Law and Policy in 2006, and her bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 2000.  At UCLA, she founded the American Constitution Society UCLA chapter, as well as was the Chief Production Editor of the UCLA Journal on International Law and Foreign Affairs and the Co-Chair of the Immigration Law Society.

Someone deeply committed to her own growth and the growth of others, Amanda has committed thousands of hours to personal ethics trainings and study.  She has explored a number of modalities and is a facilitator and coach with an emotional intelligence, ethics, and entrepreneurism program in Los Angeles.
