Attorneys who obtain a Certified Legal Specialist distinction and certification by the State Bar of California pass a comprehensive examination in the area of Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law, demonstrate extensive experience, complete additional legal education courses, and are favorably evaluated by their peers. Only a small percentage of attorneys in California achieve a Certified Specialist status. This status is maintained by undergoing recertification every few years, and by completing additional number of continued education courses.
