Joseph Peter Spirito Jr

has been in private practice in Los Angeles area since 1982. He worked at Tremaine, Shenk, Stroud & Robbins in downtown Los Angeles from 1982 to 1990 and was a partner of that firm from 1987 through 1990. He formed McGaughey & Spirito in 1990. Joe has continually maintained an AV rating in the Martindale-Hubbell legal publication and listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. A co-founder and past president of A Better Divorce: Collaborative Divorce Group, he is currently serving as Secretary on the executive committee of the Los Angeles County Bar's family law section.

Joe was an Associate Professor of Business Law at Cal State University at Northridge from 1986 through to 1995. He is also a Judge Pro Tem and Mediator in the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law Departments and chairman of the South Bay Bar Association Family Law Section. He has appeared numerous times on NBC's evening news with anchor Colleen Williams and has been a commentator on "Air Talk - The Legal Edition," KPCC-FM, Pasadena, California, CBC National TV, American Journal National TV, and ABC National Radio.

Former President and Board Member of the South Bay Bar Association and former President and Board Member of Palos Verdes Country Club, Joe was named Super Lawyer of Southern California from 2005 through to present. He was selected by his peers to be listed in The Best Lawyers In America for the practice area of Family Law.
