You certainly can sue, check the most you can sue for in small claims court where you do not have to have an attorney and the process if much faster.

Why not it is under a year, and I know of no shorter statute of limitations except for government claims. You might ask this of a landlord tenant...

It is in poor taste, but if it is true it is not libel or slander and there are no rights of privacy that exist for this type of situation.

Yes, but check the language of the loan carefully. Most Helocs provide for recourse and are not affected by bankruptcy.
