Biography
Robert J. Allan is the founder of Allan Law Group PC.
Mr. Allan is an AV rated attorney with over 30 years of Litigation, entertainment and International Law experience. He has successfully obtained multimillion dollar settlements and verdicts for his clients in cases involving civil, business, corporate and IP, music and entertainment law. He is also a Barrister and Solicitor in Canada and a Solicitor in England and Wales.
He Began his career at the firm of Bull, Houser and Tupper LP in Canada in the corporate tax department, and moved his practice to California in 1985. He represents the interests of many domestic and international businesses. He provides insightful legal counsel on complex commercial and civil litigation, international law, corporate law, corporate governance, and intellectual property, copyright, trademark, entertainment, and music law litigation. He recently obtained a large jury verdict for Sly Stone against his former manger for breach of contract.
Mr. Allan also represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex litigation matters in the California State and Federal trial courts and Courts of Appeal, and has practiced in the trial courts and courts of appeal in British Columbia, Alberta, and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mr. Allan also has considerable expertise in corporate compliance and global corporate structures. His has assisted many US and international businesses establish and expand their operations.
Mr. Allan has extensive expereince with intellectual property matters in the music, film and TV industries, with a focus on copyright terminations, reversions and recapture issues, trademark registration and infringment, assisting clients with structuring their production or loan out entities, various contracts and employee issues. Working with accountants an other professionals, Mr. Allan helps clients monetize their IP, copyrights and trademarks through sales and licensing deals.
Mr. Allan co-founded the USA China Law Group, an organization dedicated to providing litigation support and legal and strategic business advice to companies from China coming to the U.S. and to U.S. companies doing business in China. The Group's attorneys have offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzen, Nanjing and Hong Kong. The Group has a strong commercial collections practice, successfully recovering large debts in China for U.S. Companies. Mr. Allan also advises clients doing business in China on intellectual property matters, real estate, commercial collections, and investment projects involving commercial real estate development and creative joint ventures in China.
Mr. Allan authored an article titled The Conflicted Duty of Chinese Lawyers, which was published in the National Law Journal and co-authored an article titled "Forensic Sourcing in China," which outlines strategies for successful compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Mr. Allan is a frequent speaker. He has made presentations at the Director's College at Stanford Law School, the CEO International Roundtable in Beijing, UCLA Law School, and USC Law School.
Mr. Allan is an active member of the Pacific Council on International Policy, the Asia Society and the International Bar Association.
He received his Law Degree from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, With Distinction. He is admitted to practice in California and in British Columbia and England and Wales.

They said it could NOT be won ...
Mr. Allan and his colleges navigated me through a very difficult and messy Employment complaint. I was an employer without EPLI, sued by a handful of opportunistic greedy disgruntled employees.
