I am a trial lawyer who prefers personal injury cases and business disputes in matters that parties do not settle. I started my firm immediately after being admitted to practice. I was sworn in on a Saturday, and I was in court three days later. I worked subsequently for the State of California as a Staff Attorney for the Department of Fair and Employment and Housing. To try more cases, I once again became a sole practitioner. During that time, I qualified to serve as a temporary judge for the Los Angeles Superior Court, and I was one of ten pioneering hearing officers for the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority court.
Eager to return to the courtroom, I now represent clients in arbitrations, mediations, and trials. Prior to commencing litigation, I counsel clients about their specific situations in order to attempt to resolve the issues. If possible, I work to resolve cases before a lawsuit is filed.
I am admitted to practice in all state courts in California and in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. I am a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Many lawyers practice “threshold” law; they will take any case that comes across their threshold. My firm does not accept a myriad of cases, but, maintains a concentration on personal injury and business disputes that are arbitrated, mediated, or tried. In that sense, I strive to be a trial attorney, not just a litigator. It is tempting to resolve matters without trial, and many clients may wish to resolve cases for less than favorable terms. But my clients are forewarned; I discourage clients from settling cases with unfavorable terms. Clients are told to be prepared for war/trial.
When not practicing law, I enjoy the activities to be found when traveling, and I also enjoy the opportunities for rest and relaxation in Southern California. I put more miles on my fixed gear bicycles than I put on my vehicles. And, as an American Sailing Association ("ASA") certified instructor, I sail with family, friends, and students as often as possible.
I found that learning to survive on the ocean makes surviving in the courtroom a "breeze." But, I know that in both environments I am surrounded by sharks. Thus, I prepare thoroughly for every encounter with opposing counsel.
