Close the accounts and work with money orders and certified checks only, so that any funds deposited are not seized and your checks then bounce. ...
Retired defaulted on credit cards, never received a 1099-c and haven't filed for income taxes in 15 years.

The IRS would still have transcripts going back that far, based on SSN. If they received any 1099s, they would show in the transcript for the year....

You always have the right to terminate a contract with an attorney. However, you may still be liable for fees to the attorney for the value of work...
