Katherine Marie Imp

Katherine Imp is a transactional entertainment attorney in Los Angeles, California specializing in production legal, film finance and intellectual property matters.

Katherine is licensed to practice law in both California and Illinois and serves on the University of Illinois College of Law Alumni Board, the IFP Chicago Advisory Committee and the Women in Film Los Angeles Speakers' Committee. Katherine's achievements in entertainment have resulted in her being named to the 2014 Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars List (top 2.5% of IL lawyers under 40) and to the 2015 California Super Lawyers Rising Stars List (top 2.5% of CA lawyers under 40).  

Outside of her legal practice, Katherine teaches Business Law at Ivy Tech Community College and writes an entertainment law column for SCREEN Magazine entitled "Street Legal." 

Katherine's interest in entertainment stems from her experience as a producer in both the Chicago and Los Angeles entertainment communities. To jump start her creative ambitions, Katherine completed law school a semester early to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine and, at the same time, direct, produce, and star in a documentary film about the journey now entitled, Beauty Beneath the Dirt. Katherine managed all aspects of the film's development, secured sponsorship from 15 well-known food and outdoor clothing suppliers, launched a 45-venue national film tour, and obtained digital and foreign distribution.
