Tamara Charlene Harris

Tamara has significant experience in trademark and copyright law, including trademark clearance and registration, copyright protection, licensing, work-for-hire agreements, trade secret protection, infringement matters, and intellectual property portfolio strategy. She has guided clients through matters before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and the U.S. Copyright Office, conducted trademark clearance and knockout searches, and counseled clients regarding the protection, enforcement, licensing, and commercialization of intellectual property assets.
Her transactional experience includes reviewing, negotiating, and drafting a broad range of contracts and commercial agreements. Tamara has advised businesses, startups, entrepreneurs, and professionals in the entertainment and creative industries on licensing, confidentiality, service, production, media, music, and other commercial agreements. Her approach focuses on identifying potential exposure, protecting the client’s legal and business interests, and structuring agreements consistent with the client’s broader operational and commercial objectives.
Tamara also has substantial experience addressing employment and workplace matters, including wage-and-hour compliance, employee classification, compensation, leave rights, workplace policies, safety obligations, and regulatory compliance. She has analyzed matters arising under federal and California employment laws and advised clients regarding workplace practices, statutory obligations, potential claims and defenses, and strategies for reducing litigation and operational risk.
Her broader practice has included consumer finance matters, workers’ compensation, entity formation, privacy, commercial disputes, and general business counseling. Tamara’s litigation and advisory experience includes evaluating potential claims and defenses, conducting complex legal research, preparing pleadings and substantive correspondence, developing litigation and settlement strategies, negotiating with opposing counsel, and identifying practical solutions to multifaceted legal and business disputes.
Before joining Resnick & Louis, Tamara practiced as a trial and litigation associate where she gained experience handling civil litigation, employment matters, business disputes, negotiations, and other complex legal matters. Tamara also previously served as an Intellectual Property Strategist and Staff Attorney in a small-business development program, where she counseled emerging companies and entrepreneurs on intellectual property protection, contracts, privacy, entity formation, employment issues, and commercial agreements.
Throughout her career, Tamara has also worked with private law firms, businesses, entrepreneurs, and creative-industry professionals, and has provided pro bono legal and strategic support to startups and community organizations.
