Ryan Hung-Hsi Wu

Ryan Wu is a senior counsel with Capstone Law where he is responsible for briefing appeals, writs and motions related to jurisdiction, arbitration, and substantive issues in employment and consumer law.  In recent years and prior to joining Capstone, Ryan has authored numerous successful briefs, including: the petition for review to the California Supreme Court in the highly-publicizedIskanian v. CLS Transportation Los Angeles, 206 Cal. App. 4th 949 (2012); the petition for review in Reyes v. Liberman Broadcasting, Inc., 146 Cal. Rptr. 3d 616 (Cal. Ct. App. 2012), rev. granted, No. S205907 (Cal. Dec. 12, 2012); an amicus brief brought in state trial court to turn back a constitutional challenge to the Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA); and briefs defeating defendants’ attempt to invoke the “virtual representation” theory to prohibit absent class members from bringing suit.  He has also drafted numerous motions successfully remanding actions removed under the Class Action Fairness Act (CAFA).

Ryan began his career litigating international business disputes and commercial actions governed by the Uniform Commercial Code.  Ryan graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 2001, where he was an associate editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform and contributor to the law school newspaper.  He received his undergraduate degree in political science with honors from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ryan is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.  He is admitted to practice law in California and before the United States District Court for the Eastern and Central Districts of California and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
