Fantastically Knowledgeable Team

Blake and Wang are THE company if you need legal help in the entertainment field. I personally work in live entertainment. While I believe many of their clients are in the TV/movie industry, I’ve found them to be fantastically knowledgeable about my niche, too. Never failed me. In particular, their i...n-depth knowledge of trademark law has been invaluable, as well as running some standard legal stuff (think contracts etc) past them as I need. They go above and beyond regularly. Highly recommend them to anyone working in entertainment.

Not a good lawyer

Brandon Blake has got to rank as one of the worst lawyers I have ever come into contact with. I had a phone call with him and when I started to explain my idea for a show he goes "I know all the big boys and there aren't any production companies or networks that will go for what you're saying". To wh...ich I replied "ANY?" He goes "Any" very matter of factly. I then say "I'm sorry, I have a directory of producers here right in front of me that lists all the names of production companies and networks along with what they're looking for; you mean to tell me that if we were to sit down and go through the list NONE OF THEM would go for it?" He then starts in "You're asking me for a guarantee"..I'm like "No no in life there are no guarantees". He couldn't give me straight answer because he knew that I was right. Then he wanted me to do a "development" contracts for $5,000 a month. No thank you, you claimed you couldn't give me a guarantee so why should I pay you $5,000 when you're not even going to give me an idea of the outcome you're going to get? To all these lawyers and anybody else reading this who thinks or says "It's so competitive" my response is: if you're a lawyer, producer, agent, executive or any other so called hot shot it goes for you too! Not just talent so before you think "talent is a dime a dozen" so are lawyers and everybody else! Steven Spielberg as genius as he is, as of this writing is 75 years old. Martin Scorcese is 79. Brad Pitt is 59 so is Tom Cruise. I rest my case.

Mr. Blake is my go-to sounding board for all things legal.

When I started my career as a producer, I would approach him for consultations on which contracts needed drafting per project. I appreciate his personal approach to clients - he gets to know me personally and professionally to recommend which legal strategies would suit me best at this point in my ca...reer. I believe I’ve made great career moves through the years because he has my back.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
