Shanen Reid Prout

The Law Office of Shanen R. Prout handles civil litigation, counseling, and business transactional legal services. Our clients include corporations, LLCs, partnerships, trusts, individuals, families, and non-profits. We represent businesses in the e-commerce, manufacturing, retail, apparel and accessory, entertainment, events services and production, art, and food services industries, among others.

Our litigation work primarily involves three fields: copyright, trademark and trade secret law, business entity governance and control disputes, and general business and commercial litigation. We handle lawsuits in California federal and state courts and arbitrations through all phases of their life cycle: from pre-filing strategies, to negotiation and analysis, provisional remedies, heavy discovery, motion practice and case management, dispositive motions (such as summary judgment), settlement, through trials, and into post-trial motions and judgment enforcement proceedings. We represent plaintiffs, defendants, creditors, trustees, beneficiaries, and non-party witnesses.

We also structure, negotiate and draft various deals related to corporations, LLCs, partnerships and joint ventures; apparel merchandising, distribution and licensing; models, talent, spokespersons, and designers; independent film production; copyright and trademark licenses and transfers of ownership; employees, independent contractors, vendors and service providers; marketing, advertising, and promotion of goods and services; NDAs and confidentiality; indemnity; and settlement of claims and disputes.

Our principal attorney, Shanen Prout, is a lifelong Californian and a multi-generational resident of Los Angeles. He was born and raised in Pasadena. As a native of Southern California, Shanen takes great pleasure in helping California businesses establish and maintain a healthy, profitable presence in California and beyond.

Shanen enjoys traveling, reading literary, political, legal, economic and popular culture material; listening to many kinds of music and attending live concerts; theater; visiting art galleries and museums; skiing; hiking; jogging; playing and watching tennis; following professional and college football; and riding his bike around Southern California.
