Michael A K Dan

I graduated from ucla undergrad witha ba in 1966 with honors in political science. I then attended ucla law school, president of the senior law class, graduating 1969 .Took and passed the california state bar exam on the first try summer of 1969 and then went to europe where i studied and obtained a further post graduate degree in international law at Kings College in 1970. I was self supporting by working while in high school all the way thru law school.

Returned to the united states and started practicing at the firm which eventually became Butler, Jefferson, Fry and Dan. I was involved in all forms of litigation from the first day including case review, pleadings, law and motion, discovery, depositions, summary judgment, document review, mediation, mandatory conferences, trial and even handled appeals. Gained experience in all forms of personal injury, ie, auto, slip/fall, aviation, legal malpractice, medical malpractice, bad faith insurance, product liablity, drug, general negligence, birth injury, burn victims, class action, MDL, and mass disaster and more.

Tried cases throughout california with work both in state and federal court with some out of state.

Joined a variety of trial bar outfits and was an active member serving on committees and board of governors. Additionally taught tort law at ucla extention and published in the trial lawyer magazine regularly.

Then worked at Sherman, Dan and Portugal from 1988 thru 1998. My practice remained much the same. I continued to be responsible for the trial calender and to bring substantial business to the firm(s). My product liability work deepened with an active jury trial practice.

In 1998 I started my own firm, Michael AK Dan, apc and enjoyed running my own shop as well as long, long, long weeks as a trial lawyer in personal injury.

In july 2011  I integrated my practice with Cheong, Denove, Rowell, Bennett and Karns in century city where i have served as "of counsel".
