Joshua Raymond Smart

Upon getting arrested by probation for phony allegations that only require a pre ponderance of evidence to convict you, Mr. Smart not only, as a public defender with an extremely high case load, kept in communication with my mother, video conferenced me while I was incarcerated, listened to me patien...tly, advocated for my immediate release and acquired my release after 20 days in custody with no bail. Mr. Smart is sharp, he’s dressed well, doesn’t look like a slob, and takes his job seriously. This man is slammed busy, with a case load as high as the sky, but truly has his clients best interests at heart. No idea why he isn’t being paid as a private attorney, since he refused all my offers to retain him privately. Mr. Smart goes above and beyond considering other public defenders don’t even return calls, or disappear for extended periods of time, or are simply new to law. As someone with law experience myself, I understood every step he took along the way, and so did my mom. Mr. Smart sometimes answers his emails the very same day, as well as phone calls. His strategy is explained along the way, and he makes sure to come see you in the jail cell before you walk into court, spending 5-10 minutes with you discussing your case, And he sees you after you leave the court room. For those of you who’ve been incarcerated, You know how frustrating that can be. Thanks Mr. Smart. I appreciate you. So much. I’m sure others do too.
