Hamid Towfigh

Attorney Hamid Towfigh was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from Santa Monica High School with high honors in 1990. After graduating high school he attended UCLA and majored in Business-Economics, graduating magna cum laude in 1994 at age 19, the youngest of his class. He attended Loyola Law School that year, was on the Dean’s Honor List, and in May 1997 at age 22 received his Juris Doctor degree again becoming the youngest lawyer of his class. He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola Law School where he will be the first law professor in the nation to teach The Art of Jury Selection.

In July 1999 Mr. Towfigh was chosen by twice elected Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti as a Deputy District Attorney. After only 6 months as a prosecutor Mr. Towfigh started prosecuting serious felony cases in courts across Los Angeles County. In more than 11 years as a prosecutor in the largest prosecutorial agency in the world, he has handled numerous high profile cases, many involving celebrities including Dr. Dre, Master P., G-Unit rapper Young Buck, Silk the Shocker, Rupaul Charles, Chicago Bears' Ricky Manning, Adriana Lima, Catherine Oxenberg and others.

As a member of the elite Hardcore Gang Division Mr. Towfigh prosecuted exclusively the most serious murder trials involving criminal street gangs throughout Los Angeles including the Mexican Mafia, the notorious 18th Street gang, and over a dozen different Blood and Crip gangs. He has won an unprecedented 100% of his murder jury trials and lost only 1 felony jury trial in his career.

Mr. Towfigh’s practice extends beyond the courtroom. He has participated in Project L.E.A.D. as a motivational speaker to children at local elementary schools about the importance of staying in school and out of trouble. Separate from Project L.E.A.D. he has lectured at high schools about the criminal justice system. He continues to mentor youth and was awarded the prestigious Volunteer in Parole of the Year Award for helping incarcerated juveniles establish a successful and productive path back into society. He has also lectured and trained police agencies regarding numerous aspects of criminal law.

Mr. Towfigh has extensive experience in all types of criminal cases from the simplest misdemeanors to complex felonies. His cases have included white collar crime, special circumstances murder, rape, torture, kidnapping, sex crimes, armed robbery, aggravated mayhem, gang crimes, witness intimidation, extortion, arson, conspiracy, domestic violence, weapons violations, counterfeiting, forgery, fraud, grand theft, perjury and DUI.

Mr. Towfigh's cases have received national and international recognition and have been covered by CNN, Associated Press, Reuters, MTV, VH1, Court TV, Extra, Entertainment Tonight, ESPN, ABC, CBS, NBC, KTLA, Headline News, The Daily Journal, Los Angeles Times, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Long Beach Press Telegram, The Daily Breeze, The Daily Bruin, and Examiner. Mr. Towfigh was featured in the MTV documentary "Celebrity Obsession" which chronicled one of his most notorious celebrity stalking cases. He currently appears as an expert legal analyst on CNN.
