Overpriced and under-delivers. Avoid this attorney!

I hired Mr. Agege to push paper after my previous attorney took my unlawful detainer case to the 10-yard line, then disappeared. I needed someone to simply get the squatter and his opposing counsel to sign the settlement agreement that my previous attorney negotiated so we could take it before the ju...dge and have it recorded in court. For this Mr. Agege charged me a retainer 4X the amount my previous attorney charged, and again, for the simple service of finishing an already negotiated settlement. To Mr. Agege's credit, he discovered a precedent case that rendered the aforementioned settlement far too generous. But instead of going back to opposing counsel to renegotiate, he thought it more important to preserve his professional relationships than serve, me, his client. In my opinion, Mr. Agege breached his fiduciary responsibility by releasing the settlement funds to the squatter without ensuring a) the squatter had moved out, and, b) the return of the remote control to the property gate, which was a condition of the court filed stipulation. Moreover, Mr. Agege’s failure to comply with the very stipulation he drafted showed a total disregard for my interests and that he was merely interested in ending this case because he already got paid. In fact, when I expressed my dissatisfaction because he did not follow the signed stipulation and released funds without ensuring the return of the remote control, he did not accept responsibility, and said “it was not a big deal" and if I wanted to get the remote back, the onus was on me and I would have to pursue it through small claims court. Only after I threatened to file a complaint with the California State Bar, report him to the Better Business Bureau, and post a review on social media sites, did he retrieve the remote control, five days later. And if that’s not enough, it’s been almost two months since the case closed and I have not received any sort of billing reconciliation from Mr. Agege documenting his hours. I’ve asked for this three times, to no avail. My two cents (because that’s all I’ve got left after retaining Mr. Agege!) find another attorney to do your bidding.

Unprofessional & Over-bills

This attorney has repeatedly taken advantage of his clients by unnecessarily inciting them to file actions they cannot win in court and thereby increasing his billings. Other lawyers have rated his work as under par and even absolutely incorrect.
