Biography
With more than 15 years’ trial experience, Matthew McNicholas is a Partner of Los Angeles-based plaintiff’s law firm McNicholas & McNicholas, LLP. His practice areas include catastrophic personal injury, employment law, class actions, sexual abuse and other consumer-oriented matters such as civil rights, aviation disasters and product liability.
Mr. McNicholas is Panel Counsel to the Los Angeles Police Protective League and United Firefighters of Los Angeles City, having recovered more than $50 million on behalf of police officers, fire fighters and others who have suffered harassment, discrimination and retaliation by their departments.
He has achieved notable results, including a $32 million separation package for a client leaving her job and moving to new employment; a $30 million settlement against the highly publicized Miramonte School sexual abuse case; a $12.3 million verdict awarded to five trainees forced out of the LAPD after suffering injuries at the academy; a $9 million settlement against an international company for a 26-year-old plaintiff who suffered a brain injury as the passenger in a single-vehicle accident, and many more.
In addition to his success in the courtroom, Mr. McNicholas has been recognized by numerous organizations, including Top 100 Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers, Southern California Super Lawyers, Top 100 Lawyers by Daily Journal and more.
He is a Fellow of the American College Trial Lawyers, which is a national organization by invitation only, and is a member of American Board of Trial Advocates, a prestigious, peer-elected organization of trial lawyers.
