Our firm had just spent over $25,000 on creating a new services website. We were using a new trademark based on an e-commerce name we had been using for well over 20 years. To our great surprise, we were slapped with a notice of litigation from a much, much larger online company that we were infring...ing on their web territory - that the names were "confusingly similar". We were referred to Reid through one of our firm's members. Reid and I teleconferenced. As a start-up we had limited funds for expensive legal fees. Reid's wise counsel, hard-won through numerous follow-up calls and appropriate filing response timing, not only saved us tens of thousands of dollars in protracted litigation costs, which Reid and I both knew would quite legally and obviously, win us an eventual victory, but also resulted in a compromised settlement with the plaintiff that allowed us to be compensated more than adequately by the plaintiff to simply change our domain name and surrender our new trademark to them.
