Artin Shaverdian is an experienced litigator representing business entities, public agencies and individuals in a broad range of commercial and real estate related disputes. In addition to his business and real property litigation practice, Mr. Shaverdian specializes in eminent domain / inverse condemnation litigation, other valuation related litigation, construction disputes, and municipal and redevelopment matters.
He is widely recognized as an expert in California in eminent domain and inverse condemnation matters and speaks regularly on eminent domain issues. In addition to representing clients in litigation matters, he also provides strategic advice and counseling to his clients to creatively resolve or proactively avoid disputes.
Mr. Shaverdian has represented multinational corporations, business entities and individuals in a variety of industries including technology, oil and gas, hospitality, food and beverage, manufacturing, and various others in litigation and other related matters. He has also represented public agency clients such as the Riverside County Transportation Commission, Los Angeles Unified School District, Oxnard Union High School District, High Desert Water District, City of Ontario, City of Gardena, City of Pico Rivera, City of Pomona, City of South Gate, Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency, Cathedral City Redevelopment Agency, Glendale Redevelopment Agency, and Orange County Flood Control District in various litigation matters.
Los Angeles magazine has recognized Mr. Shaverdian as a Super Lawyers “Southern California Rising Star” from 2011-2015.
Prior to joining Best Best & Krieger, Artin was of counsel with Kane Ballmer & Berkman and was previously a partner with the California Eminent Domain Law Group.
Mr. Shaverdian is a member of Association of Business Trial Lawyers. He is also a member of the Los Angeles Chapter of the International Right of Way Association, the central authority in public right-of-way work, including legal issues related to eminent domain and inverse condemnation litigation. He is a member of the Eminent Domain and Land Use Committee of the Transpotation Research Board. He has written articles for the IRWA on eminent domain and inverse condemnation issues. He is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Real Property Section, Condemnation and Land Valuation Committee, a member of the Armenian Bar Association, and a registered agent with the California Bureau of Real Estate.
Artin attended Southwestern University School of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in 2002. While in law school, he was a member of the moot court and trial advocacy programs. Artin is a native of Southern California, having graduated from the Marshall School of Business at USC, with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship. At USC he was the recipient of the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies Top Ten Business Plan Award.
Artin was named to the Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in 2011 -2015.
