No Experience

I can't begin to explain how completely devasted and broken i am with what Mr Evans brought to the table as a "criminal defense attorney". My fiancé’s life was in his hands and he did the bare minimum to help. Jonathan knew the real story, he had the surveillance footage from the store, he had medic...al records from the alleged victim, he had the official coroner’s report, he knew my fiancé was attacked and he defended himself and still he didn't bother using that to bring down that felony to a misdemeanor. Working with attorney Jonathan Evans has been one of the most painful and stressful experiences of my life. Every court hearing my fiancé had felt like a punch straight to my stomach. I would leave the court house confused, trying to process what happened. Each hearing made me realize more and more how much this was completely out of my control. There was nothing that I can do or say to fix this hole that kept getting deeper and deeper do to Jonathan's lack of experience. He talks confidently and makes it sound like he would take charge, working hard. Hes a smooth talker because when he spoke to us he would reassure us that he was working hard on the case, yet it never showed... He never advocated for my fiancé and the DA walked all over him. It was easy for her because Jonathan was late to EVERY HEARING, or he would be distracted on his phone when he was present it never failed. He was always empty handed no files, no laptop, no evidence at hand ready to go, nothing!! Every time i brought something to his attention he had excuses. He always tried to justify why this and why that. He never fully followed through with anything and its because he never had a solid plan to begin with. I honestly dont think he took the time to look over his case in full detail and all. He never challenge anything and didn’t use the evidence he had — evidence that could have helped reduce the charge. On the first day of representing my fiancé,he was an hour late, didn’t show up in person and logged in through Court Connect without letting us know in advance. It was embarrassing. That was the first red flag that I should've never ignored. I don’t understand how other reviews say he got great results for people with priors and kept them out of jail. After what we went through, there is no way these reviews are true. Thats not possible those reviews must be posted by close friends and or family. Jonathan failed my fiancé. He convinced him into taking 9.5 years because he was acting like there was no other options available. He was basically saying that there was nothing he can do for him. So he took nine years for some charges that could have been dropped and or reduced!! My fiance is doing time for EVERY SINGLE CHARGE!! JONATHAN DID NOTHING FOR HIM HE DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER GETTING THE BATTERY CHARGES DISMISSED!!! THIS WAS A HUGE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. My fiancé had faith in him, he believed him, he defended him when I pointed out the red flags and this is what Jonathan did to him! Im hurting and im devastated. My fiancé’s life was in his hands, and he was careless with it. He has no experience in criminal defense he proved that with his own actions and behavior and he clearly did not care one bit about my fiancés freedom. Saying that Jonathan did the bare minimum is giving him to much credit . He basically did nothing to help his case. The most he did was file two of the weak motions that were of course denied. Please do your research and don't settle for this type of outcome. Im still in shock... im falling apart inside because my heart is shattered into a million pieces right now. Dont make the same mistake we did and dont trust referrals from other people do your research. Unfortunately research was done to late. Come to find out there was nothing found on his experience. There is no real reviews anywhere, nothing, zero! Just very generic post that were more like compliments than anything.

I understand that having a loved one in custody is extremely difficult. But repeated public attacks on my competence and integrity do not become true through repetition. I strongly disagree with this characterization of my representation. There are substantial facts and circumstances I could address, but my ethical obligations prevent me from litigating a client’s case in a public review forum. Smart clients will see that you have copied and pasted this negative review on every platform as an attempt to disparage me, not provide meaningful feedback.
