John R. Funk

EXPERIENCE

Mr. Funk has represented a wide variety of clients across Nevada.  Mr. Funk’s primary clientele includes high net worth individuals and closely held businesses on a local, regional, and national level.  During his time with Gunderson Law Firm, Mr. Funk has represented businesses owners, debtors, creditors, guarantors, secured parties, landlords, tenants, contractors, real estate brokers and agents, homeowners, and many others.  Mr. Funk has appeared before state and federal courts, as well as in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.  Mr. Funk has tried non-jury commercial litigation matters as lead counsel, in addition to serving as co-counsel in other trials and dispute resolution proceedings.   

Prior to joining Gunderson Law Firm, he earned his Juris Doctorate Magna Cum Laude at the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas  where he was on academic scholarship throughout his education.  While in law school, Mr. Funk earned the top grade in Trial Advocacy, Sales and Leases, Advanced Legal Analysis and Writing, and Secured Transactions.  Mr. Funk also interned for Honorable Judge Patrick Flanagan at Washoe County District Court and served as a summer law clerk for the Gunderson Law Firm. 

PROFESSIONAL AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Mr. Funk is a board member for the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation.  The Foundation is a non-profit seeking to promote and develop the game of lacrosse as an integral part of the education process making it equally available to both boys and girls.  Mr. Funk is also the head coach of Reno High School’s boys lacrosse program serving not only as a coach at his Alma Mater, but also as a mentor to the players.  He is an active player and member of the Reno/Tahoe men’s club lacrosse team—the Tahoe Dawgs.
