Courtney Miller O'Mara

My practice focuses on civil litigation, including business litigation, creditor's rights, employment, trusts and estates litigation (probate), and bankruptcy litigation for creditors. In recent years my practice has included a good deal of litigation involving rights under commercial loans, both inside and outside of bankruptcy. I have also worked extensively on matters involving other types of contract and business disputes as well as on other assorted civil litigation matters. I am experienced in helping clients navigate civil discovery, including depositions and expert issues. Over the last few years I have helped obtain many favorable results for my clients, including millions of dollars of judgments, dismissal of claims through dispositive motions, favorable settlements, and other victories. I enjoy helping clients figure out how to achieve their goals using the law and appreciate that at Lionel Sawyer & Collins we have the benefit of being able to work across departments to use our multiple skill sets for the client's benefit. Each case presents a puzzle, some more simple, some more complex, and the challenge of those puzzles is something that excites me. Oftentimes litigation is just one tool needed to resolve a client's challenges, but my clients have the benefit of my litigation experience as well as access to the regulatory and business lawyers who form part of our Lionel Sawyer & Collins team.

In 2010, Mountain States Super Lawyers selected me as a "Rising Star" in the fields of general litigation and bankruptcy & creditor/debtor rights. I have been named to Nevada Business Magazine's "Legal Elite" in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 as one of Northern Nevada's top attorneys.

When I am not practicing law, I can be found spending time with my husband and our two young children. As a family we enjoy gardening, hiking, boating, cooking, traveling, and spending time with our large extended family.
