James K Burau

Jim Burau's practice focuses primarily on wealth preservation for higher net worth clients.  He employs a counseling-oriented approach to ascertain the client's estate and business planning goals, then designs a plan which integrates the client's tax and non-tax related goals with their hopes and concerns for their loved ones.  To this end, he incorporates a team approach by involving the client's financial advisors in the development and implementation of the plan, where appropriate.  His process also includes a high commitment to the funding and follow-through elements to ensure that the client's plan will work as it was intended and will remain current.

Jim has counseled hundreds of clients in regard to their estate and small business planning to maintain control over their person and affairs, assure the continuation of their current lifestyle, protect their assets from excessive taxation and lawsuits, reduce income, gift, and estate taxes, preserve the value of the family business, pass values and responsibility to family members, and protect the estate from unnecessary administrative expenses and delay.  He also handles probate matters and provides estate and trust administration services.

Jim also assists clients with real estate and commercial transactions and the formation, administration, sale, and transfer of small businesses.
